Police report's insinuations poisonous - SACP

Party rejects insinuations that fallout between ANC and SACP in KZN responsible for councillor killings

Red Alert

The SACP condemns poisonous contents of an apparently leaked police investigation report scapegoating the Party, and will defend itself by all democratic means necessary!

SACP statement, 31 August 2016

The story in the City Press, 31 July 2016, about recent political killings and elections-related violence is extremely worrying. In particular, the contents attributed to a police investigative report apparently leaked to theCity Press blaming the political killings and violence in KwaZulu-Natal Province to the so-called fallout between the SACP and the African National Congress (ANC) is disgusting.

Based on the story, the undertone coming out of that report is scapegoating the Communist Party. The SACP condemns this in the strongest terms possible. We will not as the SACP fold our arms in the face of rebounding apartheid tactics to scapegoat our Party and tarnish its name through among others media leaks from state investigative processes and institutions. We will defend our Party by all democratic means necessary!

Also, who leaked the disgusting report and what their real motives were must be investigated.

The scapegoating of communists under apartheid served as a precursor to harassment and persecution of the Communist Party – the first ever political organisation to be banned in this country, in 1950, under the suppression of communism.
