SACP Statement on the Supreme Court of Appeal Ruling
The SACP notes the judgement of the Supreme Court of Appeal delivered today on the matter of the NPA v/s Cde Jacob Zuma.
We call on the working class and the poor not be distracted from the elections campaign to return, led by President Zuma, as the next government of our country with an even bigger majority in order to safeguard our revolution.
Whilst we will still be studying the judgment closely, nothing in this judgment changes the fact that the prosecution and persecution of the president of the ANC is a politically inspired affair. Whilst we respect the judgement, we however continue to reject the notion that there is no political conspiracy against the ANC President.
As the SACP we wish to reiterate our earlier call that parliament must investigate the behavior of the NPA over the past eight years in the manner in which it has handled this case including political interference by past and present political office bearers as part of the overhaul of the criminal justice system.
The SACP as an ANC ally further respects and supports the decision of the Polokwane conference that Cde Jacob Zuma will be its presidential candidate. The SACP supports the principle of innocent unless proven otherwise through a credible judicial process.
