YCLSA Eastern Cape Statement on the fatal accidents in the province

1 September 2015

The Young Communist League of South Africa [uFasimba] in the Eastern Cape Province has learnt with greatest sadness the fatal accidents which occurred in the province over this past weekend.

The first accident occurred in R61 between Cradock and Graaff Reinete when a Minibus Taxi killed 9 and injured other people.

The second fatal bus accident has resulted in the loss of 34 lives instantly and injuring many others people. This fatal crash happened on R408 between Idutywa and Willowvale.

The death of these people from working class and poorest of the poor ranks has deprived many young people, our constituency their grandparents, fathers, mothers, sisters, brothers and many other relatives.

Most importantly, some of those were killed in these fatal accidents were breadwinners in their families.

We wish all those injured a speedy recovery.

The issue of public transportation which is used by many of us needs highest consideration by government. We also hope that our government through law enforcement agencies will speedy investigate these fatal accidents.

We send our deepest and heartfelt condolences to all affected families, friends, and people of Eastern Cape.
