SACP STATEMENT ON CHANGES IN THE CABINET AND APPOINTMENT OF THE NEW POLICE COMMISSIONER
The SACP notes and welcomes the timely announcement made today by the President of the Republic, Cde Jacob Zuma, on the changes to cabinet necessitated by meeting service delivery to our people. Furthermore the SACP welcomes the appointment of Mangwashi Phiyega as the new National Police Commissioner.
We hope this intervention will help to go a great deal in stabilizing leadership in the SAPS and give a much-needed boost to our fight against crime and corruption. We equally call on our communities to give a helping hand in the continued relentless fight against crime and corruption by establishing street committees, actively participate in the Community Policing Forums and others safety programmes and also to support the new National Police Commissioner and the brave warriors in blue in the fight against crime.
Once more the leadership of the SACP, who in their own right are leaders and members of the ANC, have once more been reaffirmed and entrusted with responsibility to play a role in Cabinet. We congratulate SACP Central Committee and Politburo member Cde Ben Martins and wish him all the best in his new responsibility. We also congratulate all comrades who have been appointed in new responsibilities all the best and that they respond with humility to the call to serve our people.
We further applaud President Zuma for his considered interventions that continue to strengthen our democratic state, government and democracy.
