SADTU distances itself from official's anti-white remarks

Union orders investigation into Moss Senye's racial attack on Barbara Creecy

Racism has no place in SADTU

SADTU wishes to distance itself from utterances allegedly made by Johannesburg Central Chairperson Moss Senye at a meeting in Soweto yesterday. According to media reports, Senye allegedly called Gauteng Education MEC Barbara Creecy a satanist and urged members not to align themselves with whites because they would be tainted with Satanism (see Sowetan report).

If such a statement was made, it is indeed, highly regrettable.  SADTU is a non-racial organization and would therefore not advocate for any of its members to distance themselves from any racial grouping. Racism has no place in SADTU.

The national office of SADTU will today instruct the Gauteng provincial executive to investigate the matter and provide a full report on the context under which the alleged statement was made.

Statement issued by the SADTU Secretariat, March 11 2011
