SAMWU distancing itself from current strike at Metro Bus in the City of Joburg

6 May 2021

We have noted with disappointment that our members have been continuously threatened by a group of people claiming to be leading a strike of employees at Metro Bus, as a majority union we want to put it on record that we are not party to any strike at Metro bus.

All members of SAMWU at Metro bus are ready to render services to the residence of the City of Joburg as of yesterday, the unfortunate true story is that they are not guaranteed their safety by the employer given our past experiences of killings at Metro bus we encourage all our members to report to their respective working station everyday and stay inside the employer’s premises until a solution is found regarding their safety.
