SANRAL board accepts Nazir Alli's resignation

Tembakazi Mnyaka says CEO will continue in his post until June 3 2012

MEDIA STATEMENT BY THE BOARD OF SANRAL

The Board of SANRAL has received and accepted the resignation of Nazir Alli, chief executive officer of the agency.

At a meeting of the Board on 7 May 2012 it was resolved to accept Mr Alli's resignation. Mr Alli has agreed to continue in his post until 3 June 2012.

The Board thanks Mr Alli for his contributions since the inception of SANRAL in 1998.

The immediate focus and priority of the Board is to ensure that SANRAL continues to perform its essential role in operating and maintaining more than 16 000km of national roads across South Africa.

As announced in recent weeks, processes have been initiated at national government level to address the variety of issues involved in the Gauteng Freeway Improvement Project (GFIP) and e-tolling. The Board will ensure that SANRAL contributes to and cooperates with the deliberations now underway.
