Senzeni Zokwana: Why the silence COSATU? - Pieter Groenewald

FF Plus MP questions why Federation has failed to condemn minister for paying his cattle herder R26 per day

Minister of Agriculture creates a poor impression of agriculture

"The minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Senzeni Zokwana, creates a poor impression of agriculture to pay his cattle herder only R26 per day. When farmers in the Western Cape paid seasonal workers R69 a day, Tony Ehrenreich and Cosatu referred to the "bad, racist farmers".

Why are Cosatu and Ehrenreich so quiet now? The fact that they are not saying anything shows that they have double standards because they are only targeting white farmers and always condemn them as being bad," Dr. Pieter Groenewald, the FF Plus' parliamentary spokesperson on Agriculture says.

"It is farmers such as Zokwana who allow people to gain the impression that farmers pay their farmworkers poorly and then they generalise the idea, where it is in fact far removed from the reality. As the minister of Agriculture, Zokwana sets a poor example and he owes the farmers of South Africa an apology," Groenewald said.
