Shilowa behaving like a thief in the night - COPE(L)

Phillip Dexter says the deputy president has plumbed the depths of desperation

Shilowa's Latest Antics: Entering COPE HQ like a thief in the night

The latest antics of the erstwhile Deputy President of the party have plumbed the depths of desperation and poor taste. In his frantic attempts to legitimise himself as President of COPE, he has resorted to sneaking in to the party offices like a thief in the night (see report in The Times). This is not the first time that Shilowa has resorted to attempting to illegally appropriate what belongs to the members of the party. To date, he has;

  • Installed himself in to a position as head of a breakaway faction of the party and now claims he is President of the party,
  • Attempted to claim the COPE name and logo by registering a section 21 company without any mandate from the party,
  • Issued statements in the name of the party when he has no authority to,
  • Bussed in hired thugs to disrupt the party congress using violence.

Now he has illegally occupied the COPE offices on behalf of his breakaway faction. All this demonstrates that he has no regard for the party constitution, the laws of our country or for what citizens think of him. He clearly does not support the COPE values, vision and policies.

The CWC and CNC will take the necessary steps to put a stop to the unfortunate behaviour of the Deputy President of the party and to protect the name, logo and brand of the party.
