DPCI CONFIRMS: PERES TO BE INVESTIGATED

The Media Review Network is pleased to report that the Directorate for Priority Crimes Investigation (DPCI)have confirmed that they have opened an investigation docket as a consequence of the submission made by the Muslim Lawyers Association. This is with regards to the visit to South Africa by the former Israeli Prime Minister and President, Shimon Peres.

We also welcome the decision that the allegations related to crimes committed during Operation Cast Lead, and the crime of Apartheid will also be investigated.

This ground breaking decision is a victory not only for victims of Israeli aggression but also for victims of South African Apartheid.

WE are also encouraged by the assurance that if the evidence justifies a prosecution, necessary steps will be taken to secure Peres’s presence before a South African court of Law.

The Media Review Network considers this investigation as a victory for all supporters of justice, freedom and human rights.
