Shimon Peres: Israel meddling in SA legal process - MRN

Ibrahim Vawda responds to Jerusalem Post report that BDS provocation won't be allowed to hinder former Israeli President's visit

Israel Meddling in SA Legal Process

The Media Review Network (MRN) is deeply concerned at a report in the Jerusalem Post 24th February 2016, in which the MRN’s Press Release of the of the 22nd February 2016, (Urgent Arrest of Tyrant Shimon Peres) is widely quoted. The article reports that “the Israeli Foreign Ministry and the Embassy have contacted all relevant authorities in Pretoria to ensure that the BDS provocation will not hinder Peres”.

This meddling in our Judicial System raises some very serious questions:

Is our hard won liberation and sovereignty being undermined? Is our judiciary being subverted? Has our judiciary been outsourced? Is the Israeli government treating us with impunity and declaring to the world that we are a banana republic?

Do we have the political will to reject this kind of explicit and blatant interference in our internal affairs? During the Umar al Basheer saga, we showed the political resilience to withstand outside pressures. Had the Sudanese embassy or Foreign Ministry put pressure on our government to allow Basheer to leave the country, the outcry would have been deafening.

The MRN requires of our Government an assurance that it will not allow our legal and judicial processes to be subverted and sabotaged by a foreign entity like Israel.
