Tara hit by recurrent water cuts - Jack Bloom

DA MPL says some patients at hospital have had to go without bathing for days

TARA HOSPITAL RUNS OUT OF WATER

Patients and staff at the Tara Mental Hospital in Sandton in north Johannesburg are suffering because of on-going water disruptions.

This has been going on for about two months, sometimes with no water for a number of days.

Sometimes patients have to go without bathing for days, and have even had to use the hospital grounds as a toilet.

The problem is partly due to municipal water supply disruptions in the area, but also because of broken pipes at the hospital.

Contractors have botched the repair of the emergency water tank, so this is not a source of water for patients.

This situation is totally unacceptable and should be fixed as soon as possible.
