Triple by-election victory for the DA in Gauteng

25 April 2024

The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Gauteng is delighted to announce a triple victory in the province's recent by-elections, held on Wednesday, April 24.

These results reflect our ongoing commitment and initiatives throughout the province. Gauteng's voters recognise the DA's unwavering dedication to good governance and accountability.

We warmly welcome the following new councillors, and our confidence in them mirrors the evident trust residents place in them:

Cllr Quentin Meyer, Ward 2, City of Tshwane;

Cllr Sonia Swanepoel, Ward 6, Rand West City;

Cllr Gwen Britz, Ward 39, Mogale City;

The DA’s vote share in the various wards we contested, grew as follows:

In Ward 2, Tshwane the DA’s vote share grew from 62.05% in 2021 to 94.50% in 2024;

In Ward 6, Rand West City, the DA’s vote share grew from 70.01% in 2021, to 82.57% in 2024;

In Ward 39, Mogale City, the DA’s vote share grew from 49.66% in 2021, to 54% in 2024

Consistent growth is the message of the day, and we aim to continue this level of consistent growth into the National and Provincial Elections on the 29th of May.

Once more, we congratulate the newly elected councillors.
