Varsity fees are class discrimination – SACP

Party condemns the proto-fascist theatricals of the EFF

The SACP reaffirms support for access to higher education, technical and vocational training for working class and poor children, condemns the opportunism of the EFF and its like

The South African C‎ommunist Party (SACP) condemns in strongest terms possible the proto-fascist theatricals of the EFF and the opportunist manner in which they seek to exploit the genuine concerns of the students to feed narrow party political and private interests.

The SACP reaffirms its principled support against financial exclusion by universities - which amounts to class discrimination against the children of the overwhelming majority of poorly paid workers and the poor in general.

The SACP reiterates its call to universities to consult and engage with students in a consensus-seeking negotiation with no fee increases above the inflation rate and no financial instrument used to prevent students from writing their examinations and from gaining access.

The SACP congratulates the students for dismissing and exposing both the DA and the EFF, alliance partners in opportunism, but which is the same source of their division because of the hyper competition it involves between them.
