Zille and De Lille's politicking over Lwandle shocking - Lindiwe Sisulu

Housing minister says Premier should've taken responsibility from day one, instead of watching people suffer

MINISTER SISULU CONDEMNS WESTERN CAPE GOVERNMENT'S POLITICKING ON LWANDLE

The Minister of Human Settlements; Lindiwe Sisulu has noted all statements from the Premier and the Mayor of the Western Cape on the Lwandle evictions. The Minister is not shocked by the lack of care and responsibility to the poor people inside the hall in this cold weather.  She added that the Premier should have take responsibility from day one instead of watching as people suffer in cold rain and winter.

"The Premier and the Mayor stood and watched for three days, she told everyone that is not her problem, the Mayor also said is not her problem, we as the ANC government came in to find a solution, we are finding a solution with all stakeholders, we are shocked that they are more interested in the enquiry than the people in the Hall" Sisulu said.

The Minister added that in an emergency where people are residing in a hall in this cold weather the Premier and the Mayor are not saying anything about them, but politicking about members of the Enquiry composed of former members of Parliament and respected lawyers.

The Minister added that she is working with all progressive stakeholders to find solutions not blaming each other but find solution.

" We have a number of options but most importantly is to make sure children go to school, those who work in Strand do not lose their jobs, the rain is also not making it easy for us to work as fast as possible" She said.

"Only in the Western Cape the Government both Province and City can refuse to help poor people and to welcome each other, we have a long way to go, and we as ANC Government will not stand and watch" She said.
