Zille lied about New Age business breakfasts - ANCWL

League says it is a shame that DA leader is trying to discredit these revolutionary and progressive sessions

ANCWL : ZILLE REVEALS HER TRUE COLOURS WITH BLATANT LIES TO THE PUBLIC

The ANCWL (African National Congress Women's League) is pleased  DA (Democratic Alliance) Leader, Helen Zille has finally chosen to reveal her true deceitful nature to the South African public with her blatant lies regarding the New Age Business Briefing breakfasts.

It is clear from the footage which can be found on YouTube of the previous breakfast she participated in that she was fully aware of who was sponsoring the event. Her words speak for themselves. In her opening remarks in February last year she stated, "Mr Clyde Rossouw, representing Telkom, the sponsor of this breakfast today, thank you very much, sir, for enabling this to happen."

It is disgusting that the leader of the opposition can lie to the public with such ease, making such contradictory statements barely a year later when Zille released a statement denying she had any knowledge of who was sponsoring the event.

Again to quote Zille, "I, and other senior DA colleagues, have previously spoken at the New Age Business Breakfasts, under the assumption that the events were funded by the newspaper and by the members of the public who purchase tickets to attend. Now that it has come to light that the Breakfasts are funded by public money via the SOEs to the tune of millions of rand, the DA cannot continue to participate."

It has never been a secret who funds these informative sessions between Government, business and the public as the sponsors are even given branding rights at the event. These sessions have been welcomed by the public as a great opportunity where they can directly engage with leaders in government on critical issues and influence the direction government is taking. SABC should be commended for doing this public service by creating a platform between ordinary citizens of South Africa via social media, business and government.

It is a shame that Zille is trying to discredit these revolutionary and progressive sessions with her lies and deceit, irresponsibly acting as some kind of victim.

She further goes on to peddle misinformation and lies with baseless allegations of a somehow corrupt relationship between the newspaper and the ANC. This is not only defamatory towards the ANC but also the newspaper. It is ridiculous how Ms Zille cries fowl and complains when she is not given coverage on SABC, but now when she is given an opportunity to engage with the public she turns it down.

Zille should apologise for the lies she is peddling not only about the ANC but also regarding her own statements.
