Riah Phiyega says appointment of VIP protection services boss aimed at ensuring stability

Appointment of Acting Divisional Commissioner: Crime Intelligence Protection and Security Services

The National Commissioner of the South African Police Service (SAPS), General Riah Phiyega, appointed Major General Chris Ngcobo, as the Acting Divisional Commissioner for Crime Intelligence and Protection and Security Services. The decision seeks to ensure continuity and delivery in Crime Intelligence and Protection and Security Services. 

"This Acting appointment is aimed at bringing stability in the police intelligence environment," said General Riah Phiyega.

Major General Ngcobo takes up the position today, the 26 June 2012. General Ngcobo brings to the acting role good experience in the service, having served for 17 years in the protection services and intelligence areas. He joined the service in 1994 and has been promoted through various ranks. He holds a rank of Major General. He has been recognized for excellence in his work receiving numerous medals. 

We congratulate Major General Ngcobo on his new acting role and look forward to his contributions towards the attainment of the safety and security of South Africa's citizens. With his grasp of management values and undercover experience, Major General Ngcobo will seek to restore the reputation of crime intelligence activities
