CSA considers Nicholson report

THE Board of Directors of Cricket South Africa (CSA) met in Johannesburg on Saturday to consider the contents and recommendations of the Nicholson Committee of Enquiry into the affairs of CSA.

After lengthy deliberation the Board resolved the following unanimous decisions.

1) To rescind all decisions pertaining to the findings of the Khan Commission as well as the relevant resolutions pertaining to this matter.

2) The CEO, Mr Gerald Majola, to be suspended with immediate effect pending the establishment of a disciplinary enquiry. Such disciplinary enquiry is to address the findings of the KPMG report and the recommendations of the Nicholson Committee of Enquiry as far as they pertain to him.

The Board also decided to appoint Dr. Willie Basson as Acting President of CSA until the annual general meeting in September, 2012. Furthermore the Board requested North West to second Jacques Faul, the CEO of North West, to act as CEO until the matter was resolved.

Dr. Basson said he accepted the appointment with great humility and looked forward to serving his favourite sport to the best of his ability.

Dr. Basson is a highly experienced cricket administrator and is currently chairman of the CSA Transformation Committee.
