ANOTHER POWER FAILURE AT BARA HOSPITAL

The Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital suffered yet another power failure last night, and it appears that at least one generator did not kick in.

Fortunately, back-up batteries in the ventilators helped doctors in the trauma unit.

The continuing power failures at this hospital are a scandal, but there has been little accountability.

Staff and patients are traumatised by this situation.

Responsibility lies with Gauteng Infrastructure Development MEC Qedani Mahlangu who has made many empty promises about fixing the power supply at the hospital.

We need to know why power cuts keep happening, and what is being done about.
