Completion of Nkandla report delayed for two weeks - SIU

Unit says this is due to circumstances completely outside of its control

SIU STATEMENT ON ITS NKANDLA REPORT

The Special Investigating Unit has received a number of inquiries about its final report on its investigation into security upgrades at the President's private residence in Nkandla.

The Unit has until recently indicated that it was hopeful that its report to the President will be completed by the end of June 2014. Regrettably, as a result of certain circumstances, which are completely outside its control, the Unit will no longer be able to meet this deadline.

The investigating team is hard at work finalising the report. Unfortunately, the report cannot be finalised until certain processes have first been finalised. Attempts are being made to ensure that those processes are brought to a speedy conclusion.

The Unit is hopeful that the delay will not be much longer than two weeks.

As soon as we are in a position to indicate when those processes have been finalised, a further statement will be issued.
