Campaign lobby team says ANCYL presidency will still be contested

"A lie told a million times will always remain a lie"

The Lebogang Maile supporters and campaign leaders across the country have noted with disgust media reports that suggest Cde. Maile has abandoned the race for the ANCYL presidency. At the media briefing convened by the ANCYL Gauteng leadership, Cde. Maile made it clear that the coming conference of the ANCYL is a national platform and not a provincial one.

Cde. Maile has welcome the outcome of the PGC with humility as revolutionary democrat, appreciated and accepted a challenge imposed upon him by 219 delegates to the PGC including his own branch to become a candidate for the presidency of the ANCYL.

The same challenge was echoed in several other provinces including KZN, Limpopo and North West thus far. This sentiments expressed by the branches of the organization will be adjudicated by the national conference at Gallagher Estate and not through sponsored views in the media.

We wish to put on record that Cde. Maile has not abandoned the contest and remain resolute and committed to accept the nomination for the presidency of the ANCYL. We have noted with regret the deliberate suppression of the voices and aspirations of the ANCYL members during the PGCs wherein members are told that they cannot exercise their democratic rights to vote for their leaders of choice but vote through an imposed proxy of the so called RGC outcomes.

Anyhow, we wish to advice members of the ANCYL that our constitution does not provide for the outsourcing of the national conference responsibilities to any lower structure as it is the highest decision making body above all of us.

In Maile we trust. A lie told a million times about our candidate will always remain a lie.
