Nothing stopping up us from forging ahead with Koeberg steam generator contract - Eskom

Matshela Koko says that while the SOE will comply with court order on providing documentation to Westinghouse the application for review is gone

Eskom focused on the implementation of the Steam Generator Replacement Project

Friday, 05 September 2014: Eskom is pleased to announce that the High Court of South Africa, Gauteng Local Division, Johannesburg this morning confirmed as an Order of Court that the Westinghouse Application to interdict Eskom from concluding its contract with the winning bidder, has now been withdrawn by Westinghouse.

There is no Court Order providing Westinghouse the right to an urgent review. "We have no interdict and the application for review is gone," says Matshela Koko, Eskom's Acting Group Executive for Technology and Commercial.

The Court Order is limited to granting Westinghouse access to documentation leading up to and forming the basis of Eskom's decision in the procurement of the Steam Generators. Eskom will comply with this.

"Nothing stops us from forging ahead," adds Koko. "This means that the interdict application is now firmly behind us and we can indeed focus on the implementation of the Steam Generator Replacement Project."
