FF Plus rejects planned joining of West-Rand and Sedibeng by ANC

The Freedom Front Plus condemns the recent announcement by the Gauteng MEC for local government, Mr. Humphrey Mmemenzi, that the local authorities in the West-Rand District Municipality and Sedibeng in the Vaal Triangle will be amalgamated by 2016 to improve service delivery.

This proposed step which will join the municipalities of Mogale City, Randfontein, Westonaria and Merafong with Lesedi, Emfuleni and Midvaal into one Metro, will cause a final blow to service delivery in the West Rand and Vaal Triangle," Mr. Jaco Mulder, the FF Plus' MPL in Gauteng said.

The joining of municipalities takes service delivery further away from communities. The true reason for poor service delivery has to be lain on the doorstep of the ANC. Poor management, maladministration and a lack of appointment of expert officials have caused huge damage to the infrastructure and the capability for service delivery. The mere redistribution of assets and resources will not bring about any wealth.

"The FF Plus is already in contact with the municipal demarcation board and intends to, within the next week, start actions on a large scale against the intended amalgamation," Mulder said.

The FF Plus calls on each and every resident and community on the West-Rand and Sedibeng in the Vaal Triangle to rise in opposition to this move.
