ANCYL rejects Mpumalanga disbandment reports

League reiterates that at no point should its autonomy be undermined by ANC

ANCYL DISMISSES THE RUMOURS OF THE DISBANDMENT OF THE PROVINCIAL EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE OF ANCYL BY THE ANC IN MPUMALANGA

The ANCYL dismisses the rumours perpetrated by the media and others on the disbandment of the ANCYL PEC by the ANC in Mpumalanga (see Sowetan report).

The ANCYL notes with concern that at no point should the autonomy of the ANCYL be undermined. The ANCYL is confident of the role it continues to play in the politics of Mpumalanga led by the Chairperson, Cde Kgotso Motloung and the Acting Secretary, Cde Clarence Maseko.

The challenges having faced the ANCYL in Mpumalanga have in the main been due to interference by the ANC in the Mpumalanga and we continue to demonstrate through programmes that have demonstrated the collective will of young people in the Province.

The ANCYL in Mpumalanga will be going to a Provincial Congress as per its due requirements by the end of June 2012 during which leadership will be elected.

The ANCYL remains firm in its confidence of the unitary nature of the organization and therefore dismisses any efforts of confusion created both within the organization and in society and maintains its responsibility to decide on how the matter of the ANCYL in Mpumalanga be handled through the structures of the ANCYL and not the ANC.
