Is Zuma's Nkandla loan a front? - Sej Motau

DA MP says it is entirely possible for President to take up a loan and have this paid on his behalf, through a benefactor

Is Nkandla loan a front for Jacob Zuma not to pay back Nkandla money personally?

31 July 2016

The DA reiterates its call that Jacob Zuma pay back every cent for Nkandlagate personally, with or without a loan.

It is entirely possible for the President to take up a loan and have this paid on his behalf, through a benefactor.

In fact, according to the draft KPMG report (State v Jacob G Zuma and Others), available on the Mail and Guardianwebsite, Jacob Zuma has a history of relying on others to pay off his debt.

Quoting from the report directly:

“…the Nkobi Group, Shaik and other entities, related to the Nkobi group, settling debts and other personal expenses for and on behalf of Zuma in excess of R4 million during the period October 1995 to June 2006.”  (pg 29)

Moreover, that Durban businessman, Vivien Reddy, assisted Jacob Zuma “in obtaining the bond and continued to service the bond payments, as Zuma did not have the funds to do so.” (pg 102)

Nkandla remains a monument to corruption and unconstitutional conduct. This money should have been used to provide better services and create jobs. Instead, it improperly benefited one man, who already earns a salary in excess of R2 million.

The only way that justice will truly prevail is for Jacob Zuma, and no one else but Jacob Zuma, to pay back every cent.

To this end, we again demand that all relevant proof of payments be made public, and be furnished to Parliament, in the interest of accountability and transparency.

South Africa cannot allow Jacob Zuma to get away with this Nkandla corruption.
