France Modise's death a racial killing - COSATU NWest

Solly Phetoe calls on police to arrest racist mob of farmers responsible (July 4)

Racial killing at Klippan Farm, Ventersdorp

The Congress of South African Trade Unions in the North West condemns the racial killing of a farm worker on 30 June 2012.

It is alleged that France Modise came to work under the influence of beer and he was brutally assaulted to death by those racist and his body was locked in the store room until Monday 2 July 2012 when it was pulled on to the street.

It is reported that France worked in the farm since 2008 until his death when he was so racially killed.

We call on the police to arrest the racist mob of farmers who killed the poor farm worker. The framer must be able to tell the police what happened to France.

Some farmers are not prepared to change and this means that workers must defend themselves from such racial killings which are taking place almost every day, every week, every month.

COSATU calls all workers to report all racial attacks, racial killings, racial abuse of our poor children and women which is taking place in the farms.

It is proven and confirmed by this racial killing that farmers around Ventersdorp are now responding to the killing the late AWB leader who was killed by his workers. This is not first case; many cases have been reported and no arrests are being made.

We call on our police to respond quickly when these matters are reported to them and they must investigate the cases of those racist white people who, we are told, have taken this upon themselves to continue with the work of killing of farm workers and other African people on the farms.

The family member who is in pain can be called on this number: 081 556 6098.

COSATU will be leading a protest action against these racial activities at Ventersdorp police station and the magistrates court in the next two weeks to defend our members and demand a full response from the police and the court on why they are not arrested and why they are given bail when there is an arrest.
