AfriForum should stop spreading lies - ANCYL

League says Julius Malema did not approach right wing organisation about settlement

ANC YOUTH LEAGUE PRESIDENT NEVER APPROACHED AFRI-FORUM FOR AN OUT OF COURT SETTLEMENT:

04 May 2011

The ANC Youth League has noted that the rightwing organisation, Afri-Forum is spreading lies that the Legal representatives of ANC Youth League President Julius Malema have approached them for an out of Court settlement.

The ANC Youth League never approached Afri-Forum and will never do so because we are not the ones who have a problem with the song they believe constitute hate speech. We have however said in more than one occasion and during the Court proceedings, that our gates are open to even rightwing formations that want to discuss whatever issue that relate to nation-building.

Thus far, the ANC Youth League is not aware whether the rightwing formations that took us to Court want to talk or not, because their witnesses said something else and Counsel said something else contradictory. Now that Afri-Forum realises they will not succeed in banning revolutionary songs and declaring them hate speech, they send confusing signals and messages which are pure lies.

The ANC Youth League is disgusted by this lame strategy of rightwing formations and will not be reduced to engaging at the level of backward rightwing formations, who rely on sensationalism and lies to communicate.

As far as we are concerned, the arguments for the case will be on the 19th of May 2011 and the Legal Team is busy working on argument before the Court passes judgment. We appeal to Afri-Forum to immediately stop spreading lies and wait for the Court proceedings to conclude, because they do not seem to know what they want.
