Albert Mncwango jumped the gun - IFP

Party denies leadership had asked national organiser to step down with immediate effect

IFP RESPONDS TO THE RESIGNATION OF MR ALBERT MNCWANGO MP

The IFP was taken by surprise this morning by the announcement that Mr Albert Mncwango MP, the IFP's National Organiser, has resigned. Mr Mncwango claims in a statement that the leadership of the IFP has asked him to step down as the National Organiser with immediate effect, in order to allow the party to implement certain transformational changes.

This is not the case.

Recognizing the difficulties and challenges that the position of National Organiser represents, the National Executive Committee of the IFP during its meeting yesterday felt that it could be in the best interests of the Party, that a technocrat and not a politician be appointed to the position.

The IFP Constitution states clearly that it is the National Council of the IFP that appoints the National Organiser. This matter was due to serve before the National Council meeting this weekend for discussion.

No decision had been taken on a way forward.

It is unfortunate therefore that Mr Mncwango jumped the gun by announcing his departure.

His departure is indeed a great loss to the Party. His skills, passion and expertise are invaluable to the IFP and we are sorry to lose a man of this caliber.
