ANC abusing state resources to benefit election campaign – Andrew Louw

DA says ruling party did not even deny allegations but called opposition parties “jealous”

DA calls for investigation into ANC using state resources to campaign

7 June 2016

On Friday night, 3 June 2016, DA Councillor, Rodney Kritzinger, of the Nama Khoi Municipality in Springbok, came across officials from the Department of Public Works unloading boxes with parcels at the local ANC office. The incident is alleged to have taken place after22h00 at night. It seems highly likely that the ANC are making use of government officials, using vehicles belonging to Public Works, to assist with their election campaign.

When spotted, several officials hid in the building whilst the rest sped away. Councilor Kritzinger was however able to write down the registration numbers of the vehicles in question.

Kritzinger visited the local SAPD on Friday night where he reported it. On Saturday a formal case was opened (CAS 41/6/2016). The situation has also already been taken up with the IEC.

When the matter was raised in a council meeting this morning, the ANC didn’t deny the allegations. In fact,  the ANC councillors and mayor called opposition parties “jealous”.

It is clear that the ANC are once again abusing state resources to benefit their election campaign.

The people of the Northern Cape can see through the ANC’s dirty tricks and will vote for change in their numbers on 3 August. Change that creates jobs, stops corruption and brings better services.
