COSATU Gauteng condemns childish and anarchist behavious at Mandela memorial

Dumisani Dakile calls upon ANC leadership to investigate and expose those involved

COSATU Gauteng press statement on the childish and anarchist behaviour during the Nelson Mandela memorial service at FNB Stadium

COSATU in Gauteng joins the ANC at both the national and provincial level, and the SACP, in condemning the childish, immature and anarchist behaviour by a small section in the crowed during the memorial service of the late and former President Nelson Mandela.

This behaviour was extremely shocking, disgusting and appalling by some small group in the crowd during the memorial service of Nelson Mandela at the FNB stadium. They have used a period of mourning by the nation to display their unbecoming behaviour which runs parallel to the ideas and principle of Nelson Mandela.

We call upon the national and provincial leadership of the ANC to investigation and expose those involved in this behaviour and take appropriate action if any member of the ANC was involved.

They have done the country and our beloved icon a serious dis-service and embarrassment to the Mandela family, the Icon himself, the entire nation and the world at large.

We are however pleased that the majority of our people in the country and also in the stadium have observed the mourning as expected and required. Those who are involved will not deter us from ensuring that in this period we dedicate it to the Father of the Nation.

We believe such a behaviour will strengthen our resolve to defeat the enemies of the revolution.
