DA retains ward 2 in Thabazimbi

The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Limpopo is delighted to have retained ward 2 in Thabazimbi in yesterday's by election.

This follows after the resignation of DA ward councilor and speaker of Thabazimbi local municipality Bertie Joubert, who resigned for personal reasons.

We managed to reinforce our support base and grew by one percentage point.

The final results were as follows:

Democratic Alliance - 33.58%

African National Congress – 27.38%

Freedom Front Plus – 28.45%

Economic Freedom Fighters – 7.07%

Thabazimbi Ratepayers Association - 3.54%

We have complete faith in our new councilor, Tokkie Swanepoel, who together with the DA caucus in Thabzimbi are ready to serve residents with renewed vigor.

We would like to thank all voters who came out to support us and a special mention and appreciation must go out to the DA’s professional team who managed the by election with dedicated commitment.

The DA values every single voter and we remain committed to keep making progress in Thabzimbi together with our coalition partners to eradicate the legacy left by the previously led ANC council.
