DA sends condolences to family of murdered ANC councillor

The DA extends its deepest condolences to the families, friends and colleagues of KwaNongoma ANC councillor, Thami Nyembe, who was shot and killed last night. 

It is reported that Councillor Nyembe was shot while transporting his wife at Masundwini. Both were injured and rushed to hospital but Nyembe was declared dead on arrival.

Killings of public representatives is becoming a trend in KZN. We call on the police and to move swiftly to apprehend the perpetrators.

The Multi Party task team is currently meeting to discuss how such killings can be prevented in the run to the upcoming Local Government Elections.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the families, friends and colleagues of the fallen Councillor during this difficult time.
