IFP Takes Key Ward from ANC in KwaZulu-Natal By-elections

The Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) in KwaZulu-Natal is proud to announce its success in yesterday's by-elections, marking an historic moment as it seizes another crucial ward from the ANC.
The IFP contested in three wards, with the highlight being the capture of Ward 11 in the Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality, from the ANC.
In a fiercely contested battle for Ward 11, the IFP secured an impressive 1 008 votes, surpassing the ANC's 641 votes and the EFF's 41 votes.
This victory not only solidifies the IFP's standing as a political force to be reckoned with but also underscores the unwavering support and trust it enjoys from the people of KwaZulu-Natal.
The IFP attributes its remarkable achievement to the lasting legacy of its Founder and President Emeritus, Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi. His visionary leadership continues to inspire the party and its members.
The party expresses gratitude to the voters of Ward 101 in the eThekwini Metro, where, despite not securing the ward, the IFP witnessed substantial growth and improvement compared to the 2021 elections.
The IFP emerged second in Ward 101, showcasing its expanding influence in the region.
In Ward 23, in Ray Nkonyeni Municipality on the South Coast, the IFP made significant strides in a territory where it had not previously enjoyed much support. Although the ANC retained control of that ward, the IFP garnered increased support, indicating potential future growth in the area.
The IFP cements its position as the biggest victor in these by-elections by successfully snatching Ward 11 from the ANC, while the ANC managed to retain only two of its three contested wards.
The newly-elected Ward 11 Councillor in Inkosi Langalibalele Municipality, Cllr Sanele Cedric Madlala, has been tasked with upholding and emulating the values of Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi.
The IFP encourages him to work tirelessly towards delivering essential services for the people of Ward 11 with humility, respect, and dedication.
The IFP extends heartfelt appreciation to its volunteers and deployees whose unwavering commitment and hard work contributed significantly to the party's historic success in these by-elections.
Special recognition is extended to the IFP's young Mayor in Inkosi Langalibalele Municipality, Cllr Mduduzi Myeza, who is also an IFP Youth Brigade NEC Member. His dedication and leadership played a crucial role in securing this victory for the IFP in Ward 11.
The IFP commends the exceptional performance and improvement, noting that these achievements were attained despite the ANC's deployment of government resources for their campaign. This further underscores the IFP's resilience and commitment to democratic principles.
The IFP's notable presence and growth in the South of KZN lay a strong foundation for the party's trajectory towards the 2024 Provincial and National Elections.
