Malema not engaged in Gauteng party battles - ANCYL

Youth League says its president works well with both Mokonyane and Mashatile

ANC YOUTH LEAGUE PRESIDENT IS NOT LINKED TO THE CAMPAIGN OF ANY OF THE CANDIDATES FOR THE ANC GAUTENG PROVINCIAL CONGRESS:

African National Congress Youth League President Julius Malema is not linked to any campaign for any of the candidates for the ANC and ANC Youth League Gauteng Provincial Congresses. Newspaper reports in the City Press, Sunday World, and Independent Newspapers that seek to suggest that the President Julius Malema supports either of the two candidates for Chairperson in the ANC Congress are totally not true.

On issues that relate to Provincial leadership of the ANC, the national leadership of the ANC Youth League, including the President are guided by what branches of the ANC Youth League prefer, and will never be actively involved in their official position in canvassing for election of one candidate over the other. In the case of Gauteng, the President relates well and works closely with both candidates for the position of Chairperson in the National Executive Committee of the ANC, and would not choose to canvass for one candidate against the other for whatever reason.

This principle applies to the leadership of the ANC YL in Gauteng and all other Provinces. Members of the ANC Youth League reserve the right to decide on who they elect for leadership position in their respective Provinces. The National leadership has recurrently emphasised to all members that any candidate for any leadership position in the ANC Youth League who claims to have the endorsement of the national leadership and President Julius Malema is not telling the truth.

The ANC YL National Executive Committee has a responsibility to provide a fair and level playing ground for all members of the ANC YL to convince each other on leadership issues without interference and will forever uphold such principle.
