Only one reason Nkandlagate report's been classified top secret - EFF

Fighters say intention to hide the corrruption and wrong-doing committed

ECONOMIC FREEDOM FIGHTERS ON THE NKANDLA REPORT BEING DECLARED TOP-SECRET:

Economic Freedom Fighters are gravely concerned by the decision of the Minister of State Security Siyabonga Cwele declaring the Nkandla report Top-Secret, meaning that the Auditor-General and Public Protector will not have access to the report. The people of South Africa will not have access to information on how more R200 million of their money was spent in the private residence of Mr. Zuma.

How on earth can this particular Minister hide a report on how more than R200 million of State money was spent to upgrade the private residence of Mr. Jacob Zuma?  How on earth can a ‘democratic and accountable' government duck and dive over such massive expenditures?

Now that the Nkandla report has been declared top-secret, it will only be fair to make the following conclusions:

  • Mr. Jacob Zuma sanctioned the construction and renovation of his private residence using public funds, and was aware throughout the construction that those are not security upgrades as claimed by the Department of Public Works.
  • Mr. Jacob Zuma and those involved approved their own contractors and builders who overpriced the construction of his private residence, and these people overpriced their services because they knew no one will hold them accountable.
  • The Department of Public Works spent and paid more than was reasonable and required, and still cannot find sound reasons to justify why such expenditures were made.
  • There is no law that justifies the actions of the State to engage in such callous expenditures, so the only route is to hide the information.

In light of these expenditures, and purely illegal practices, the only thing the government can do is to declare the report on Nkandla a top-secret, not because it is a top-secret, but because the intention is to hide the corruption and wrong-doing that was committed by all people, including the benefactors and beneficiaries of the Nkandla private residence.

All these, and many other things that will still come up towards elections next year, justify our observation as Economic Freedom Fighters that South Africa is degenerating into a Kleptocracy (government of thieves), who use selective prosecution and still do not have the means to proceed when they prosecute for political reasons.

South Africans, particularly the youth should begin to acknowledge and appreciate that our country. South Africa under President Zuma is not safe. How can President Zuma's government investigate President Zuma's illegal construction of his private residence and later President Zuma's government decides to declare the investigation report a top-secret??

We will not be shocked when the Zuma African National Congress (ZANC) and the Zuma South African Communist Party (ZSACP) release scathing statements this week to defend the declaring of Nkandla a top-secret. It's a sign of how low the Movement of the people has gone.

We might not get the answers today, but we are going to ask the electorate and the people of South Africa in the 2014 General elections whether they want to continue under Zuma's Kleptocracy or whether they want Economic Freedom in our Lifetime? ASIJIKI!
