Prospect of actual imprisonment dissipated Zuma’s bravado

It is clear that former President Jacob Zuma has finally come to the realisation that the prospect of imprisonment is real and that it is not as rosy as he initially thought.

His bravado with regard to serving time has suddenly dissipated and his former claims about not being afraid are all but forgotten now.

Zuma's urgent request for the Constitutional Court to rescind its order of fifteen months imprisonment clearly demonstrates that he fears the punishment.

The Constitutional Court is doing everything in its power and exhausting all legal means to ensure that it is complying with all the constitutional provisions in all respects so as to be absolutely unprejudiced within the constraints of the law.

Only time will tell what the application's outcome will be.

This new development may buy Zuma some time before he has to start serving his sentence, but he clearly found out the hard way that no-one is above the law and no-one can challenge it either.
