Subpoena of Ramaphosa welcomed – EFF

Fighters say president has no legal basis to not be transparent about what happened at Phala Phala

EFF welcomes the Acting Public Protector’s decision to subpoena Cyril Ramaphosa for failing to respond to 31 questions regarding the Phala Phala farm

19 July 2022

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) welcomes the decision by the Acting Public Protector, to subpoena Cyril Ramaphosa after his failure to respond to the 31 questions posed to him in relation to the Phala Phala farm. This comes after her decision to deny the money laundering, kidnapping and torture accused Ramaphosa, a further extension to respond to the 31 Questions relating to his criminal activity on Phala Phala Farm. Ramaphosa failed to respond to the questions by the 18th of July 2022, effectively establishing himself as a constitutional delinquent. The cowardly Ramaphosa, who masquerades as a moral compass of South Africa, has failed to comply with the directives of a Chapter 9 institution, and his deliberate and criminal rebellion is further reason to believe that he is guilty. It is now an undeniable fact that Ramaphosa is in open defiance of South Africa's Constitution.

We maintain that Ramaphosa has no legal basis to not be transparent about what happened with regards to the millions of US Dollars that were stolen at his farm. The sole reason Ramaphosa cannot answer the Public Protector is because he is guilty, and has no credible or moral answer to justify his actions.

The Office of the Public Protector must refuse to be compliant with Ramaphosa's attempts at evading of justice. The integrity of the institution is at stake and it must never waver from its mandate of accountability, regardless of incentives placed before who occupies the Office. The EFF will proceed with ensuring that a Parliamentary inquiry is established into the criminal activity of Ramaphosa, and ultimately that he is removed from Office through a process of impeachment.
