Ian Neilson should be removed - COSATU WCape

Tony Ehrenreich says Cape Town deputy mayor responsible for financial regression

COSATU CALLS ON NIELSEN TO BE REMOVED

COSATU has noted the report by the Auditor General in respect of the financial affairs of the City of Cape Town. COSATU is concerned about the regressing of the financial affairs of the City. The report again highlights abuse of tender regulations by council politicians and the families of officials in the City.

The spending of the capital budget again lags far behind the budgeted amounts and is in many respects the reasons for increased service delivery protest in the City. COSATU calls on the Auditor general to investigate the fiddling of the books, by the adjustment of the budget amounts down to hide the under spend in relation to the initial budgeted amount. The finances have steadily deteriorated under Nielsen and COSATU calls for is removal from the Finance portfolio due to incompetence.

Statement issued by COSATU Western cape provincial Secretary, Tony Ehrenreich, July 24 2012
