Young rural girls being trafficked as sex slaves - ANCWL KZN

League congratulates police for rescuing 16 victims in Point area

ANCWL KZN Statement On The Human Trafficking Of Young Girls

We have noted with great and serious concern the increase in human trafficking; particularly that of young girls from rural areas whom are taken to the cities to be used as sex slaves, drug trafficking and being sold. This is another form of gross women abuse (see New Age report).

The ANCWL wants to thank and congratulate the police for rescuing sixteen (16) helpless and defenseless young girls from the claws of cruel and heartless criminals. The police should conduct regular raids, particularly in the Point area.

Being a danger to society, the perpetrators, we say should not be given bail.

We welcome and support the counseling sessions provided for those innocent girls who were held captive.

The ANCWL calls upon all women and men to stand up and join us in condemning this barbaric and heinous act against our children. Let us go to court and demand that the perpetrators be denied bail.

We call upon the Department of Social Development and Police to trace the families of the girls and appropriate support be given.

We say enough is enough, let us all stand up and fight the demon that is devouring our children and their future.
